The first full day

Well we are home and all reports are very positive! Emory was hard at play on the play ground when I arrived and was happy to see me. Her teacher said she had a really good day! After she got over her initial bout of fussing a couple of minutes after I left, the rest of the day was smooth sailing. The teacher said she was really sweet and cooperative and very smart and a great listener! She apparently took a really good nap as well, so I guess she played hard this morning! She was really happy to tell me about what she did with her friends and how much fun they had.

Trinity's teacher said she had a really good day too. She was grumpy with me when I picked her up, so we're going to tell ourselves it's because she was so well behaved during school that she needed to let go a little. I'm sure she's tired too! She told me a lot of what they did and it sounds like they had a great time! After getting a drink and snack she is in a much better mood and willing to talk.

Whew...we made it and it looks like we'll be willing to go back again!

My Little Emsies!

Today was Emory's first day of school. She was excited to go to her new class and play with her old friends, talking about it all morning. When we got to school and walked Trinity to her class she started feeling a little nervous. As we walked to her classroom she started talking about how long the walk was to her new class and telling me about what she was going to play with first. When we finally got to her class she was excited to get her stuff all put away in her cubby and get her day started! Just about a minute later one of the kids started crying because his mom had left, then it was all down hill. I think that's when she realized I wouldn't be staying in her class all day and she was going to be in this new place. She did okay, she didn't cling to me or have to be pulled off of me, but she was crying quite a bit. Her teacher started asking her about her jewelery and painted finger nails, which seemed to distract her a little bit. It was hard to tell how hard she was actually crying as I was walking out because there were five other kids crying too. I'm sure the teachers will be glad when this day is over!

I took a couple of pictures of Emory this morning to share with you:

Here's one from her first day last year, which was actually in January, so it's only like 8 months old, but you can still see how much she's grown!

Trinity had a great morning again! She was a little irritated that she didn't get to wear any pink or purple again today, just the same old black, red or white, but reluctantly gave in when she realized her friends would be wearing the same thing. She asked on the way to school if tomorrow was a work day for Daddy (I told her she would go to school on the days Daddy works). I told her it was and she sighed and asked when it would not be a work day for Daddy again. When I told her the next day would be Saturday she was okay with that. We'll see if she's still okay tomorrow. She did really well when we got to school. She did want me to walk into her room with her, but was fine with us leaving and was really looking forward to playing outside, doing centers and eating lunch in the cafeteria.

I am really looking forward to both girls reporting back on their day! I'll let you know how it goes.

Trinity's day...

Well, it seems to have gone well! She doesn't just come out and tell us things, even when we ask direct questions, it usually just trickles out as the conversations continue, so we'll see. She was happy when I got there, happy to see me and happy to have been at school. She was excited that they got to do "stations", play with play-doh, and have snacks at their tables. They were only there for three hours today, so I guess tomorrow will be a better taste of reality.

Tomorrow is Emory's first day of Pre-k 2! She is really excited about being in the big kids class and having her own spot at the table! She was really confused this morning when she wasn't going to school too. She kept fussing for me to get her backpack and for her to get her stuff together. We talked about it several times, but I don't think she believed me that she wasn't going to school today until she got back in the car with me after dropping Trinity off. I hope they both do as well tomorrow as Trinity did today!

Emory LOVED the attention from me this morning! She just kept looking at me and grinning her guilty grin, then hugging me. She did really miss having Trinity to play with though and she was glad to see her when we picked her up!

I'll let you know how the day goes tomorrow, keep us in your thoughts again for a smooth day for all!

My little Princess

I guess she's not so little any more, huh? Today was her big day! Trinity started kindergarten! She was really excited to see her friends again and to get to play with them today. I didn't tell her she had to go to chapel, so she was excited about school (she hates chapel b/c she has to sit quietly). When she was getting dressed this morning she said, "Do I have to go to kindergarten EVERY day?" I told her she did, then she said, "I don't want to, I quit kindergarten." So I explained to her that it wasn't EVERY day, just the days Daddy goes to work, and she was okay with that. When we got to her classroom she was a little timid, but then her friends started getting there and she warmed up. By the time I left she sat down in her seat at her table and said with a big smile, "Bye Mommy, I love you!" That was a good note to leave on! Her teacher's oldest daughter is in their class too, she was the most emotional mom there I think. They are going to have a great year!

Here's a picture of my little princess, my big girl, all ready for school. Today's only a 1/2 day, so I'll let you know how it went after we get home.

I found a couple of pictures of her first day of Pre-K 3 for you to see how big she's gotten, I didn't have one for the first day of Pre-k 4, oh well! I'll be back later today...

I'm truly blessed!

I have the best little girls on the planet! They once again got up on their own and got themselves dressed for the second and final day of "practice" for school. They did some beautiful arts and crafts projects to surprise me with and we went to the grocery store where they were perfect angels! I am so blessed to have such incredible children! While we were in the store an elderly gentleman was admiring the girls, not only because they're cute all dolled up and carrying their own babies, but because they were so well behaved and willing to be helpful when I asked for it or needed it- but not when I didn't. He was one of several elderly people that complemented me today on their behavior. Anyway, as we were going our separate ways down the aisle he said, "God bless you girls". My response initially was, "Thanks, you too", but then after looking back at my precious angels I continued with, "I AM blessed!". So nice to have people remind me from time to time how blessed I truly am!

Tomorrow is the real deal, Trinity starts kindergarten! She's really excited! We'll so how it goes in the morning though. Send positive thoughts our way and I'll send you pictures when we get home. I asked her this evening what she was most looking forward to in kindergarten this year and she said, "playing in the play kitchen and lunch.". They get to eat lunch in the cafeteria this year. Her past three years there she has eaten in her classroom but now she's a BIG KID and gets to eat with the big kids!

I'll let you know how it goes when we get home...

Almost forgot...

Ooops, I forgot to share our Friday evening with you. We wanted to do something fun for dinner Friday night since we had planned on taking a vacation this weekend and it never worked out, so we went to Spaghetti Warehouse, then planned on taking a carriage ride. The girls were in great moods and having a great time! Emory, who doesn't like to eat the crust of her bread, discovered she could stick the whole slice of bread in her mouth and eat off the "soft part" while leaving the crust between her lips and teeth, it was pretty cute with such a small mouth!

As we were finishing dinner a thunderstorm popped up on top of us, which meant no carriage ride. I lieu of the carriage the girls convinced their daddy to play video games with them (they think the candy grab machine is a video game too):

When we got home they decided they wanted to be "twins" so they both put on North Texas shirts to sleep in and had a great time doing their cheers, fight song, scrappy claws and just making their daddy proud!
We have so much fun together!!!!!

Marvelous Monday

Today was our first "practice" day for getting everyone up and ready to leave the house by 8:00 to get to school on time and the girls did great! They were pretty excited I guess; they woke themselves up and got dressed before we really even knew they were awake! Maybe they were excited about their "Mimi play date" though, not about having to get up and dressed. All three girls got to play with their Mimi (Greg's mom) for most of the day, they even got to see David and Noni! Trinity and Emory were pretty cute getting their stuff together, they both loaded up their backpacks with toys for themselves and Addison while we were moving car seats around. Emory had loaded her backpack so full she couldn't zip it by herself and could barely stand with it on! Here's a picture for you to get an idea, Emory's expression is actually panic because she was falling backwards from the weight:

Thanks Mimi for the fun day!
After quiet time we had the opportunity to go to school for an open house for Emory's classroom. She is in a "big kids" class this year, PK 2...she's been looking forward to it all summer! Of course as soon as we get there Emory heads for the babies, kitchen and stroller! Thank goodness there are at least 20 babies in her class, but there is only one stroller, so we will have to contribute one of our many to hopefully cut down on some of the problems. Emory had a great time seeing her friends again and Trinity had a great time with hers that were there because of their little sisters. In fact we had so much fun that we ended up at dinner with two of the families!

So here we are, dressed nice (not dressy, but presentable for a change) walking into a restaurant with other families and I look down at my nice black top to find a HUGE, running, chunky, mass of poop from Addison's diaper! I know all you non-parents out there are pretty grossed out right about now, but the ones of you with kids are probably saying, "ooh, I remember when that happened to me". Well, it was the very first time it had ever happened to me and it was GROSS! We spent the next twenty minutes in the bathroom getting both of us cleaned up! Thank goodness Greg was there to get dinner ordered and the other two seated! The girls had a great time at dinner with their friends. We let the big kids (Trinity and her two friends) sit at their own booth, of course they all three sat on the same side. I've attached a picture of them, having a great time together:
Something funny Trinity said today that we have no idea where she got it from. While they were straightening their room before bed this evening she was talking to Emory and she said, "Future daughter-in-law, do what I'm telling you to." I don't think she has a clue what a daughter-in-law is, but it was pretty funny to hear her say, even though it wasn't used correctly!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!!

So today is a kind of big day, it's my mom's birthday! It's not just any birthday either, it's a BIG one, you know one that ends in a zero?!?! I wouldn't dare mention which big one, because that is so tacky, but it is the 30th anniversary of her 30th birthday:) Mom, you have to admit that it made you smile:) Just know that we love you with all our heart, forever, no matter what!!!!!

We hope you have a wonderful day and you celebrate every single chance you get! We can't wait to see you this weekend! And remember, we will be thinking about you all day! Think of your "pep ralley" as a giant birthday party! They all know you and love you, so I'm sure that's exactly what it would be if the Superintendent knew what day it was!

Oh, don't forget to play the video below for a special birthday wish from your special girls!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRTCujAsTCc

Sorry that wasn't better, it was my first attempt at using the video feature on my camera (obvioulsy don't get the lighting thing) and my first attempt at linking anything to my blog. I have spent hours trying to get the actual video on here and haven't had any luck yet. I'm sure it's YouTube, not user error:)

by the way, the girls had "HAPPY" "BIRTHDAY" and "GA" written on their stomachs. Apparently it tickled a little bit so Addison wouldn't hold still enough to have Gaga written on there...sorry! I hope it at least made you smile Mom!
