Kindergarten Career day

Today Trinity's class had Career Day and they all were to dress up as the career they want to pursue as they grow up (no superheros or princesses). Trinity has been telling me for weeks she wanted to be a Dance Teacher, just like Miss Bessie when she grows up, so yesterday I got her a long sleeved leotard since the forecast didn't look too favorable for any of her sleeveless versions and went ahead and bought a new pair of tights to go along with it. I was all set to get her ready as a dance teacher for today. Last night when I was showing her the purchases and discussing our schedule for this morning she got really upset and said she had changed her mind, "I don't want to be a dance teacher anymore, I want to be a ROCK STAR!" So here I am, seven o'clock in the evening and terrible weather outside and faced with the prospect of a disastrous morning since she would not be able to dress the way she wanted to for school...great! I start throwing out ideas and suggestions and trying to make the dance teacher thing her idea again so she would go along with it...then suddenly I had a light bulb moment! I suggested she dress in the "dance teacher" clothes and be a rock star practicing for her concert! Whew...she loved it! We got her dressed, only she added a black skirt to the pink leotard and tights and we did her hair all funky and added some crazy glitter to her face. Here are the results:
My little Rock Star!!!

I couldn't resist this picture while I was driving (in the snow), she looked like a star w/ total attitude sitting there being chauffeured around town.

Trinity and her friend, Dr. Peyton

There were some great careers in her class! There was a Dallas Maverick, Dallas Star, three doctors, Fashion designer, baker, Cost Guard, Astronaut, and there were still some kids not there yet.

As soon as we got home Emory started begging for me to make her a Rock Star too. I had a little more time to give her and much more thin hair, so here is the result of that make-over:

She LOVES it!

Snow...seriously?

So here's a very brief synopsis of the recent weather:

Sun March 2nd: 70 degrees
Mon March 3rd: 30's for high and snow
Tues March 4th: 50's and sunny
Wed March 5th: 70 and sunny
Thur March 6th: 34 for high and rain, rain and more rain...at least 2" during the day
then, overnight it finally turned into the snow they'd been telling us we would get all day! Just 30 minutes north of here they got like 9" of snow! We only got 1 if even that much. Regardless of how much it was the girls were so excited to wake up to it and play in it this morning. Of course by 9:30 the sun and warm temps had melted every last flake around!

Here are some pictures from EARLY this morning of the girls and their daddy playing in the snow...before school and work and after breakfast, dressing and playing Webkinz.
Addison was a little confused as to what was all over the place, I don't think she'd ever seen snow before.

Emory and their itty bitty masterpiece

I had to take this one myself, the rest of the family was too busy playing in the snow

Addison did not want to come inside, it took some encouraging to trade the cold, white stuff for the warm house

It looks like this might have been the last snow of the season, so we will look forward to another game of "oh yeah" next year! Thanks Mother Nature for the entertainment!

My new photographers

Last night Trinity and Emory "borrowed" my camera to take some pictures. Here are a few of the 100's they took. Thank goodness for digital cameras!
Here are a few of Trinity's shots:

Walking AND reading?!?!

While hunkered down in the warmth of our home we managed to record some pretty monumental times in Addison's life. I actually got her to focus on her favorite book WHILE the camera was out. She LOVES this book, Baby Faces and usually is much more excited than she is in this video. Just after reading she decided she was going to start walking, so I got a few of the steps on video!

Just after this video she kept playing the walk to each other game and both of her sisters joined in, the game last at least 15 minutes! Then, only ten minutes later she walked all the way from her changing table, through her room and all the way down the hall, half way through the living room! That's got to be at least 25 feet! She walking all over the place tonight! Holy cow!!!!!

5 1/2...already?

I can't believe it's been 5 1/2 years since I was graced with the birth of my first baby girl! What an amazing young person she is growing into! Trinity never ceases to amaze me with her incredible intelligence! She never stops questioning what's going on in the world around her. She is just like her Daddy! She will never accept an answer of that's just how it is...like she wants to know WHY 2+2=4. She definitelly surpasses my level of intelligence in just about every single conversation we have (not that it's hard to do). I LOVE how she has taught me to question things a little more and look for a better explanation as to why things are the way they are. It's exhausting to look for more reasons in the world around me, but I am trying my best to embrace the glasses I force myself to wear so I can hopefully explain things to her a bit better and answer at least some of the questions she asks.

We did a little bit to celebrate this half birthday today. The girls got to have muffins for breakfast (we usually require something a bit more healthy than that) and Emory "allowed" her to be the first to do everything today instead of competing with her on every breath. Emory and I made her a cake while she was at school today and we all enjoyed that after a yummy dinner of chinese food. She has been BEGGING for a Webkin for quite sometime so we gave her one for her 1/2 birthday and she has already gotten onto the website to register it and has learned so much already! What a wonderful concept these little pets and the website to support them are!
Here are a few pictures of our celebrations this evening:
Addison wearing the rice she had for dinner
Trinity's half bday cake
Emory doesn't like cake, just the icing and she kept missing her mouth!
Addison LOVED the cake! I promise her slice wasn't much more than 1mm thick, but judging from the icing all over her it looks like it was a "Pappy sized" slice!
After she was finished with the cake and icing she decided to lick the plate clean! I guess she doesn't have very much sweets.

I walked in from putting Emory down for a nap this afternoon and was greeted by this:

I guess it's safe to say she wants an voice about what she watches on TV. She had already changed the channel at least twice and was in the process of rewinding what she had landed on by the time I got the remote away from her. She is a HUGE remote hog!

The Great Enforcer

Monday night I left the two big girls alone in the bathroom while Trinity was bathing and I was getting Addison's pajamas on her. During this time the girls decided to have a water fight and cover the entire bathroom (walls, floor, ceiling, and everything in between!) with water. As soon as I discover this crazy situation I give both of them a towel and told them to clean it up immediately- if I heard any talking or playing before it was all finished they would both have time-out (I know, I'm a mean mom!). Just about this time Greg discovered it was snowing/sleeting like crazy outside and there was piles of it all over our cars. Being the "Great Enforcer" of the rules that he is he runs outside and grabs two handfuls of snow, runs into the bathroom and throws one at each of the girls and yells, "OH YEAH?!?!" The punishment of completing the bathroom clean up was immediately abandoned and they were running outside- half naked- to grab their own handfuls to throw at their daddy!

I do love these memories and this game is one they talk about almost every day, even though they can only play when there is enough ice/snow to ball up and throw at each other. Since this obviously only happens once or twice a year I went ahead and let them play with their daddy. He is the one who was in trouble for their mess at this point:)

I am so grateful for a family who knows how to have fun and enjoys doing so together!

I finally fixed it!

I found a website where I could turn my videos and do more editting on them than I have before. I'm still going to play on the site some more (one of these days) to figure out whatelse it can do, but for the mean time, here are a couple of our recent videos. They're all stuck together...like I said, I need to play on it some more to figure it all out:) Hope you enjoy!

Our weekend

It's been a pretty busy weekend, but it has all been fun! We started out by going bowling Friday night. It was Emory's first bowling trip and Trinity's second and they both had a great time! Emory got the hang of it pretty quick and actually did pretty well! Here she is with Greg teaching her how to do the granny roll on her very first try:

The girls ended up working together for most of their turns and would have quite a bit of time to play, cheer, visit, dance, or any other number of activities while they were waiting for their balls to make it down to the pins.

I took some videos of both of them bowling, but ding-dong me I turned the camera side-ways...again! I won't be sharing those, they're not THAT interesting anyway:) I actually took pictures of the scores because I was relatively surprised by the scores of the girls, here's round one:

and round two:

Oh yeah, I actually broke 100 both times!!! Woo-hoo! I never even had one gutter ball (of course the fact that the "baby bars" were up in the gutters is probably the real reason for that, but who needs to know all that?).

This is how Addison spent a good part of the evening:

So that was a great Friday night and a wonderful way to start the weekend!

Saturday morning Trinity had her first soccer game of the season. She's playing with a bunch of her friends from school this time around, so she's enjoying it quite a bit more, but still not too into it. We didn't force her to play this time, she wanted to since her friends are! Since she only played the first quarter I didn't get any pictures of her playing, but here are a few I did get:

A very happy soccer player, as long as she's cheering on her friends instead of actually on the field

This is Pippy, one of Trinity's friends little sister's. She had a great time playing with Emory and Addison!

I think I see a future in plumbing for Addison. At least I won't have to hire someone to fix all our problems:)

This is actually what Trinity and Emory spent a good part of the morning doing, picking clovers for everyone.

The extremely sassy sissy cheering on the Thundercats

After soccer we enjoyed some family time and naps (for everyone!) before having dinner with Greg's family to celebrate a cousin being in town from CA. We had a great time visiting with everyone! This morning we started out with Trinity having to be at school at 7:30 to sing in early church before heading on to our church for Sunday School. We were all pretty tired after that early start, unfortunately Trinity and Emory weren't tired enough to take naps:( We have spent this afternoon trying to get the yard somewhat cleaned up before the weather turns gross again tonight. It's hard to believe it's in the 70's today and it probably won't get above freezing tomorrow and we might even see some snow! Welcome to TX right?
