We have been so busy lately and I'm really far behind on posts. I've started several that I haven't had (or taken) time to go back and finish, but thought I would take a few minutes to update on the girls. I think I only have time for one today, so I'm gonna start with Trinity.
Trinity is really enjoying kindergarten at her new school! She's made a couple of good friends in her class and absolutely refuses to leave for the day without giving hugs and saying bye multiple times. There is one little boy she talks about all the time and his parents said she gave him a picture of a heart...go figure! There is another little boy that chases Trinity and two of her friends around the playground every day trying to kiss them. She says she won't let him...so that's promising! We're trying to convince her that boys have cooties...hopefully she'll buy it for at least another couple of years!
She has so many incredible opportunities at her school that most kindergartners aren't given and we are so grateful! She gets to go to either art or music every day (they alternate each week) and they are learning a lot in each class! She says her favorite part about school is art class and she likes art so much because they are learning HOW to draw! She has learned how to portray wind and so much more! They are learning about many artists and the history behind art...hello, they're in kindergarten! Every month they focus on a different artist and she has taught me so much about the two they've talked about so far. I LOVE IT! When she brings her depiction of Starry Night home with her I will try to get it scanned and post it for you.
She does miss her old school and her old friends, but is starting to question the move a little less every day. She did ask if we could put her back in private school so she can learn about God and Jesus while they're at school. I guess that's a pretty compelling argument for a 6 year old, but the answer was still no.
She brought home her report card from the second six weeks yesterday and each topic was marked as mastered except one and that was reading a short story. She is doing so well! The curriculum is different at this school than what she had last year, so she is not bored by having to repeat all the same activities. We have a parent-teacher conference scheduled for January and we plan on discussing the option of being GT tested (gifted and talented) at the recommendation of several folks. We'll see what her teacher's perspective on that is.
Trinity LOVES her gymnastics class! She looks forward to it all week! She practices every chance she gets! She has practically turned our house into a gym!
