Like her father

I walked in from putting Emory down for a nap this afternoon and was greeted by this:

I guess it's safe to say she wants an voice about what she watches on TV. She had already changed the channel at least twice and was in the process of rewinding what she had landed on by the time I got the remote away from her. She is a HUGE remote hog!

The Great Enforcer

Monday night I left the two big girls alone in the bathroom while Trinity was bathing and I was getting Addison's pajamas on her. During this time the girls decided to have a water fight and cover the entire bathroom (walls, floor, ceiling, and everything in between!) with water. As soon as I discover this crazy situation I give both of them a towel and told them to clean it up immediately- if I heard any talking or playing before it was all finished they would both have time-out (I know, I'm a mean mom!). Just about this time Greg discovered it was snowing/sleeting like crazy outside and there was piles of it all over our cars. Being the "Great Enforcer" of the rules that he is he runs outside and grabs two handfuls of snow, runs into the bathroom and throws one at each of the girls and yells, "OH YEAH?!?!" The punishment of completing the bathroom clean up was immediately abandoned and they were running outside- half naked- to grab their own handfuls to throw at their daddy!

I do love these memories and this game is one they talk about almost every day, even though they can only play when there is enough ice/snow to ball up and throw at each other. Since this obviously only happens once or twice a year I went ahead and let them play with their daddy. He is the one who was in trouble for their mess at this point:)

I am so grateful for a family who knows how to have fun and enjoys doing so together!

I finally fixed it!

I found a website where I could turn my videos and do more editting on them than I have before. I'm still going to play on the site some more (one of these days) to figure out whatelse it can do, but for the mean time, here are a couple of our recent videos. They're all stuck together...like I said, I need to play on it some more to figure it all out:) Hope you enjoy!

Our weekend

It's been a pretty busy weekend, but it has all been fun! We started out by going bowling Friday night. It was Emory's first bowling trip and Trinity's second and they both had a great time! Emory got the hang of it pretty quick and actually did pretty well! Here she is with Greg teaching her how to do the granny roll on her very first try:

The girls ended up working together for most of their turns and would have quite a bit of time to play, cheer, visit, dance, or any other number of activities while they were waiting for their balls to make it down to the pins.

I took some videos of both of them bowling, but ding-dong me I turned the camera side-ways...again! I won't be sharing those, they're not THAT interesting anyway:) I actually took pictures of the scores because I was relatively surprised by the scores of the girls, here's round one:

and round two:

Oh yeah, I actually broke 100 both times!!! Woo-hoo! I never even had one gutter ball (of course the fact that the "baby bars" were up in the gutters is probably the real reason for that, but who needs to know all that?).

This is how Addison spent a good part of the evening:

So that was a great Friday night and a wonderful way to start the weekend!

Saturday morning Trinity had her first soccer game of the season. She's playing with a bunch of her friends from school this time around, so she's enjoying it quite a bit more, but still not too into it. We didn't force her to play this time, she wanted to since her friends are! Since she only played the first quarter I didn't get any pictures of her playing, but here are a few I did get:

A very happy soccer player, as long as she's cheering on her friends instead of actually on the field

This is Pippy, one of Trinity's friends little sister's. She had a great time playing with Emory and Addison!

I think I see a future in plumbing for Addison. At least I won't have to hire someone to fix all our problems:)

This is actually what Trinity and Emory spent a good part of the morning doing, picking clovers for everyone.

The extremely sassy sissy cheering on the Thundercats

After soccer we enjoyed some family time and naps (for everyone!) before having dinner with Greg's family to celebrate a cousin being in town from CA. We had a great time visiting with everyone! This morning we started out with Trinity having to be at school at 7:30 to sing in early church before heading on to our church for Sunday School. We were all pretty tired after that early start, unfortunately Trinity and Emory weren't tired enough to take naps:( We have spent this afternoon trying to get the yard somewhat cleaned up before the weather turns gross again tonight. It's hard to believe it's in the 70's today and it probably won't get above freezing tomorrow and we might even see some snow! Welcome to TX right?

Amazing Skin Cream!

For Christmas my mom helped the girls make this "lotion" for all the ladies in the family. I quickly discovered how incredible it is! I put it on my feet every morning and in just a couple of days my feet were softer and prettier than they have ever been after a pedicure! My mother-in-law has been using it on her face and swears by it! Well with using it every day I quickly ran out, so I begged for the recipe and made some for myself yesterday- with Emory's help of course! It's so wonderful I have to share the recipe with the whole world:

15oz baby lotion (I used Johnson and Johnson- the pink kind)
7.5 oz Vaseline (store brand is fine)
4 oz Vitamin E Skin Care cream (probably have to go to a health food or vitamin store)

All you do is dump these three things in a bowl and squish it through your hands till all the lumps and clumps are gone, then put it in jars and get to using! Emory LOVES using lotion, so mixing this was right up her alley! Here is a picture of her, elbow deep in the mix:

Hinckley Look-alike Meter

Everyone always tells me the girls look just like their Daddy. Maybe if we could find a picture of him smiling it would change the results:

Pictures from Greg and Trinity's campout

As you might remember from the post about their weekend, the weather during Greg and Trinity's Adventure Princess campout a couple of weeks ago was...um...less than perfect. They spent a lot of time inside, so that's what the pictures are from. Greg didn't take too many pictures because there wasn't too much to photograph, but here are the ones he did get:

Trinity laying in her bed, I think she was actually coloring you just can't tell from here.

Can you tell she was less than thrilled to have her picture taken?

Trinity and her friend, Charlotte. Trinity has discovered camouflage and was wearing it from head to toe!

Trinity sticking her hand in the running river where there should be steps

She must have gotten bored if she actually posed for this picture!

The girls have such a great time on these campouts! They love the time they get to spend with their friends and with their Daddy's. Some of my best memories with my dad are from these campouts too! It is such a wonderful program and I'm glad Greg and Trinity are participating in it!

Catch-up on Emory

I have a couple of random pictures of Emory and some really funny videos, so here is a post all about her. She is such a girlie girl! Seriously, she takes a purse with her everywhere she goes (it's one of my old ones, so she calls it her grown-up purse) and she fills it with all the necessities. This morning when I helped her clean it out she was very insistent we kept her cell phones (yes, that's plural because she has a lot of people to talk to), all of her lipstick (which she ALWAYS has on. She's better at getting it on her lips than most make-up artists), keys, gum (she chews gum almost non-stop these days), rubber bands (not sure what that's about) and money. She is still the most kind-hearted and sweet person I think I have ever met, but she is oozing with a little more sass each and every day. Last week Greg was correcting her behavior and she said, "Daddy, please stop speaking to me that way. I just don't like it." Okay, seriously she's barely three! At least she was polite about saying she didn't want to do things his way:) Her favorite past time is cheering. It's really more of a cheer/hip-hop thing, but she's actually really good at it. She is CRAZY coordinated! We have discovered more of her personality is really black and white. It's amazing how this influences her view of the world. She is doing really well at recognizing letters and numbers and at her one-to-one ratios (that means counting objects for all you non-education majors out there) because they just are what we tell them they are, she doesn't question why they are the letters or numbers we tell her, she just accepts it, memorizes it and moves on. She is also really grasping spirituality because of the whole b/w perspective; she says some amazing prayers every night and the other day said something along the lines of God is in my heart and all around me, you can see God when I'm nice to other people. It really seemed like she understood what she was saying, not simply repeating what other people had told her. It does get frustrating when we tell her her food or drink is warm, not hot and not cold; she just doesn't get it. We will go on and on with her about how it's warm and in her mind that's just not an option, if it's not hot, then it's cold. She's going to be awesome at math and science!

Okay, so back to what you really came to see, here are a couple of cute pictures of Emory and all her sass:

Here are a couple of videos of her dancing. These were a couple of months ago, before she started her daily cheering sessions- I'll try to get some of those on here too.
