GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday was the first home game for our North Texas Mean Green for this season! NONE of our friends made it to the game (seems a little like last year) for one reason or another, so it wasn't as much fun as games in the past, but we still enjoyed our day. Greg couldn't wait to get up there to tail-gate with the other Go Mean Greeners, so he headed up about the time I was laying the girls down for naps. Once they woke up and I got everyone ready we headed up to join him. The girls were precious, all three in their cheerleading outfits! We had a blast listening to Beerman, playing in the Jr. Mean Green Fun zone and visiting with the other alum and actives from Delta Sig. The game was fun, but unfortunately the outcome wasn't. We will still head back up for the next game and hope some of our friends actually make it!

I took some pictures, but for some reason I can't get them to pull up on the computer...I will post them later.

What a week!

Greg went out of town most of the week for his annual Regional Conference for work and the girls and I were fortunate enough to have my sister stay with us! We were on the go the whole time and had a blast doing so!

In between all of our activities Nicci and I managed to completely re-do our bedroom...completely behind Greg's back! I'd been planning it for weeks so I was really excited for the time to finally get here! Unfortunately I was planning on finishing up the shopping on Tuesday while Trinity and Emory were at school and Greg was at work, but Greg ended up staying home sick. I didn't get any of the shopping done on Tuesday and I was only able to get a little done on Wednesday before Emory's dance class, so unfortunately I'm not completely finished with the room, but the hard work is done! We got all new bedding, wall art, shelves, window treatments and painted the walls and base board! I still have to get night stands and lamps and paint the doors and door frames...but I think I did pretty well! Of course I did manage to break the bed in the process of moving it across the room by myself, so we'll have to do something about that too.

It has turned out pretty good and Greg was completely surprised so MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Thanks for your help Nicci!

Trinity's dinner Adventure

Last Sunday Trinity decided we should go out to eat dinner instead of staying here and keeping it simple. Greg casually asked her, "if we were to go out to eat, where would you want to go?". And there begins our Sunday evening adventure.

Trinity started by saying, "I want to go to that restaurant where the doors look like a barn, you know where they have those metal crosses on them. It's by Northpark mall." We thought and thought and came up completely blank, so we followed with the obvious questions:
mom and dad: What did you eat when we went there?
Trinity: Maybe soup, yeah probably soup. (for those of you who don't know, that's what she gets at almost every restaurant)
Mom and Dad: What did we get to eat?
Trinity: I have no idea
Mom and Dad: Who all was with us?
Trinity: We haven't been there since before Addison was born.
Mom and Dad: Was it just us, or was someone else with us?
Trinity: It was just us...or maybe Pappy and Gommy were with us...
Trinity: They had those things on the window and a roof that goes like this (showing us a flat roof with her hands) Here, let me draw you a picture...
Trinity: It might have been a restaurant where you go through and serve yourself, or maybe it wasn't...um, it either was or it wasn't

By now we have brainstormed on every single restaurant we have ever been to and asked her questions about each of them, and ever question has been shot down. We're completely lost and feel so helpless.

The questions continued, I guess in an effort to prove her wrong, because it just HAD to be one of the restaurants we had already asked about.

Mom and Dad: It was by Northpark?
Trinity: Yeah, you just drive down the street to Northpark, and it's just right there.
Mom and Dad: Um, okay, was it in a building all by itself, or were there other stores there with it? (of course a five year old wouldn't understand the term strip-center)
Trinity: I think it was in a strit-center thing (um...never mind, she is once again proving us wrong on her intelligence)

So at this point we are completely intrigued and decide to go out to eat after all. We get everyone cleaned up, grab Trinity's drawing and jump in the car for Trinity to take us to this restaurant. We drove to every single restaurant we could think of we had ever been to that she doesn't know by name. We ended up coming up on Northpark from the back side, so we circle around the mall and when we're pulling up to Northwest Highway, she yells, "There it is!!! It's right there! It's there in front of us!" So we look up and in front of us is a grocery store. After we tell her that I got a sinking feeling in my stomach...next to the grocery store is none other than Cheesecake Factory. Granted this is probably my favorite restaurant, but not exactly what we were planning on for this impromptu dinner. We drive through the parking lot and discuss this as an option, but there are no parking spots open and the line is out the door!

So now comes the hard part of breaking Trinity's heart (and my sudden craving for Cheesecake Factory's Orange Chicken), we decided it just wasn't the night to go there. Not only was their line long and their prices high, but we have never gotten out of there in under two and a half hours and there was no way Addison was going to sit for that!

So we ended up at one of many Mexican restaurants in the area with a sulking five year old, and still got home in time for baths and bed.

What a fun adventure that was! I can't wait to go on another! I also can't wait to go to Cheesecake Factory (Mmmmm...I'm suddenly craving their Orange Chicken again!)!

8 months old

I can't believe another month has flown by! Addison's eight months old today! She has grown so much in the past month, I don't know where to start! She is not only army crawling all over the place, but she has started to get on her knees and rock a little bit. Today she did the funniest thing, she got up on her knees and was trying to figure out how to move forward that way. She moved both of her hands forward, then moved both of her knees at the same time; she looked like a little frog! I guess that's fitting considering that's what her bedroom is done in and all her stuffed animals are!

She is getting her first two teeth as we speak. Two days ago we noticed her gums on the bottom starting to turn clear, showing the teeth trying to break through. Yesterday you could see the whole line for the tooth was clear and when I rubbed medicine on them with a q-tip I could feel them (although not with my finger) and today you can barely feel them with your finger. She is pretty miserable with this! Although I'm not ready for the toothless baby stage to be over, I hope for her sake these teeth get all the way through and up really quickly!

She is starting to wave a little more, using her hand sometimes instead of her whole arm. She really responds to people too. When someone looks at her and smiles she will almost always smile back and make a sound similar to "hi". She definitely knows when I've left the room and doesn't much appreciate me doing so without her. She is putting EVERYTHING in her mouth! She is starting the "uh-oh game" where she drops things over the side of her high chair or stroller and tries to say "uh-oh", although that's not exactly what it would sound like to a stranger, then waits for us to pick it up for her. She is a HUGE thumb sucker which we try to break her of every time we can and that has turned into another game. Anytime we say, "Addison take your thumb out of our mouth" she will take it out and start laughing, then put it back in and wait for you to start over. This probably won't help the cause! She is always happy and everyone she sees comments on that!

So if anyone knows how to slow down the clock please let me know! I have tried to cherish every single second of time with her and every single step and stage, but no matter how much of it I soak up, it's still over when it's over!

Here is her 8 month picture with "Mister". You can look back at her 7 month post for pictures back to birth.

And here is a picture of Addison with her Bunbun (Kelly hope you don't mind we borrowed your name) from Trinity's birthday party at Build-a-bear Workshop.

4th and final 5th celebration

Whew...what a party! Trinity had her "friend" party for her 5th birthday yesterday...if you're counting, that makes 4 celebrations (family party, celebration at school, dinner as a family, now this one)! She decided she was going to have an ALL GIRL party and go to Build-a-bear. It was a FANTASTIC party! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a party location! The party girl (I don't remember their titles) for our party was great! She kept the girls entertained the entire time, even while they were just sitting waiting for all the bears to be stuffed. All the girls had a great time and got just what they wanted! Trinity built a pink bear with a white heart on it's tummy and paw and named her "Fuzzy". It is a very special bear, each of the girls at the party kissed a heart and made a special birthday wish for Trinity and put the heart inside Fuzzy before she was stuffed. Each girl also put a heart inside their own bear and the Party Girl had them do special stuff with it before putting it inside their bear, some of the things were to rub it on their nose, "so it nose it is always loved", touch the heart to their knees "so it would know it you always kneed it", touch it to your tummy "so it would never be hungry"...I don't remember the rest of the things, but it was very special!

Trinity and Emory eagerly await the arrival of the party guests

Picking out our bears (Ruff for Emory and Bunbun for Addison)

All the party girls and their new friends

After building bears and working up quite an appetite we headed up to the food court at the mall and had lunch (chick-fil-a of course) and cookie cake.
Enjoying Cookie Cake!

Sleepy Addison wanting to party with the big girls!
That was the easiest party I've ever planned! I did nothing except make the reservations! Of course it did help tremendously to have my sister there to help with taking pictures, setting up the table and getting the food to the table while we were still building bears. It's like having my own personal assistant! I'm so lucky!
After the party we returned to Build-A-Bear Workshop for Trinity and Emory to spend their hard earned money (they've been doing chores and saving all summer) on more stuff for their bears. Trinity got an Ariel (The Little Mermaid) costume for Fuzzy and Emory got a purse, sunglasses and big girl panties for Ruff. They were SOOOOO proud!

After the party Nicci stuck around for naps with the girls and when Greg jetted to the South Lake Carrol game (yes, he went to yet another HS game this weekend) she stuck around to play, eat dinner, help with baths, and read books! We had a great time just us girls!

Another Friday night in Texas...

Isn't the stereotype something about High School football on Friday nights? Well, I guess we fit right in to that one! We went to yet another Woodrow game Friday night and the girls had a blast again! The crowd was a little smaller, the game was a little less exciting and the outcome wasn't quite as good, but we still had a good time!

Play date with Jack!

What a wonderful time we had at the Arboretum on Friday! Emory got to actually have her very own play date and not just tag along on one of Trinity's. We met Jack and Michelle at the Arboretum for a little playing and a picnic. Emory was extremely shy and took a LONG time to warm up to Jack, but after feeding the Koi together (thanks Michelle for thinking of the food) she was quite a bit more comfortable. I hadn't seen Michelle since she was pregnant with Jack and I was pregnant with Emory, so the kids had never met, but by the time we left they were like old friends! We can't wait to see them again, hopefully very soon!

Addison had a blast watching the big kids!
You can tell they ended up having fun together!
Jack, we hope your boo-boos have healed and they didn't slow you down too much!

Future WNBA star?

Okay, so maybe I'm aiming my sights a little high, but could we at least hope for a college scholarship?

Trinity got a basketball goal for her birthday from Pappy and Gommy. I think Emory enjoys it quite a bit more than Trinity does! She will go out back and "shoot hoops" for thirty minutes or more at a time! She does REALLY well too! She usually makes about 75% of her shots! We should probably raise the goal, but she is only 2. She doesn't take it too seriously either, so it's even more entertaining to watch. When she misses she will curl up her nose and see if anyone's watching, then say something like, "Oh man." or "The next one". As you can see in the picture, she won't take off that Cinderella costume even for playing basketball!

Wild Wednesday!

What a crazy days Wednesdays will be this year! Both Trinity and Emory have dance on the same day and I've somehow got to squeeze naps in for Addison and hope to get one for Emory too! Yesterday was our first day of dance this year and the girls were so excited! This is Emory's first time to take, although she has been watching her big sister and participating vicariously through her. She woke up yesterday morning ready to go! She immediately wanted to get on her dance clothes and get her dance bag ready. The second we dropped Trinity off at school she was begging to get to the studio! She didn't understand why her teacher wouldn't be there ready and waiting for her class. She begged and pleaded to go all morning! It didn't help with her anticipation that I had to start preparing everything to go 45 minutes before we left. Emory's class falls right in the middle of Addison's lunch time, so I had to get a bottle ready, food ready, a change of clothes for her...etc. She was lined up at the door ready to go the entire time! Once Emory got to the studio she was seated against the wall in her spot, ready for her class to start! She was the leader of the "train" into studio and the leader of the bunny hop too! She thinks this class was made for her and the other 9 (or so) girls are there to follow her!

After we picked Trinity up from school we took her to dance too. Emory was sure to take her dance bag with her, and of course hadn't changed out of her dance clothes, just in case her teacher "wants her to join Sissy's class". She was sorely disappointed to be stuck in the lobby with me while Trinity was dancing! Trinity had a great time! Her class is a lot bigger than last year, there are 15 I think, compared to 3 last year. She was frustrated to have to share attention with so many girls, but she knew several, so that helped.

Emory had a huge break through with potty-training yesterday! She only had one accident all day and told me when she needed to go potty each and every time (even when she had the accident-I just wasn't fast enough getting her to the potty). This morning she is doing really well too! When I got her to school she hadn't had any accidents! Her teacher gave her a sticker (pink and sparkly!) as a reward for going in the "big girl potty" when we got there, so hopefully that will encourage her to stay on track while she's there. She did it on her own, just like Trinity did! Hopefully she'll be out of diapers in the next week or two! Woohoo!!!! Way to go Emsies!!!!!

Addison had quite a day at dance yesterday too. She was sitting right next to me, playing with me keys when she decided she needed to get over to some of the toys on the floor. She leaned forward to fall over to crawl and smacked her face on the floor, she ended up with a bloody nose! I felt terrible! It only bled a few drops, but you know how badly your nose hurts even when you just barely get hit! She calmed down really quickly though and was ready to crawl around and play more in no time!
